YAG & Argon Laser System

Targeted non-invasive laser systems for post-cataract capsulotomy, retinal tear repair, and glaucoma pressure reduction — stitch-free outpatient procedures completed in minutes.

Overview

How it works

The YAG and Argon Laser System at Peshawar Eye Hospital provides targeted, non-invasive laser treatments for three common and important eye conditions — posterior capsule opacification after cataract surgery, retinal tears at risk of detachment, and raised intraocular pressure in glaucoma. The YAG laser delivers ultra-short nanosecond pulses to create a precise opening in a cloudy posterior lens capsule, restoring clear vision within seconds — an entirely outpatient procedure performed in minutes under topical anaesthetic drops. The Argon laser applies controlled photocoagulation to seal retinal tears and holes before fluid can pass beneath the retina and cause detachment. For glaucoma, Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) stimulates the trabecular meshwork to improve aqueous outflow and reduce intraocular pressure, offering patients an effective alternative or complement to daily eye drop therapy. All three procedures are stitch-free and require no surgical incisions.

Key benefits

  • 100% stitch-free and non-invasive — absolutely no surgical incisions
  • Outpatient procedure completed in minutes under topical anaesthetic drops only
  • YAG capsulotomy provides immediate visual improvement for posterior capsule opacification
  • Argon laser seals retinal tears before they progress to detachment
  • SLT laser offers effective IOP reduction without the compliance burden of daily drops
  • Both procedures can be performed on the same visit as a clinical examination

What we use it for

  • YAG Laser Capsulotomy (Post-Cataract PCO) — After cataract surgery, the posterior lens capsule can become cloudy (posterior capsule opacification). The YAG laser creates a precise opening in the cloudy capsule in seconds, immediately restoring clear vision.
  • Argon Laser Retinal Tear Repair — Argon laser photocoagulation creates a seal of scar tissue around retinal tears and holes, preventing fluid from passing beneath the retina and stopping progression to sight-threatening retinal detachment.
  • Glaucoma Laser Treatment (SLT / PI) — Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) stimulates the trabecular meshwork to improve aqueous drainage and reduce intraocular pressure, as a complement to or substitute for daily eye drops.
