Corneal Topography
Scheimpflug-based 3D anterior segment analyzer capturing 107,520–230,400 data points for comprehensive corneal mapping, keratoconus detection, and surgical planning.
Overview
How it works
The Scansys TA517 is a Scheimpflug-based 3D anterior segment analyzer manufactured by MediWorks in Shanghai, China, used at Peshawar Eye Hospital for comprehensive corneal mapping and pre-operative surgical planning. In a single scan lasting under one second, the system captures up to 230,400 data points — generating complete curvature, elevation, thickness, and aberration maps of the cornea in three dimensions. This precision is essential before any refractive surgery: Scansys confirms that a patient's corneal architecture is structurally safe for LASIK or SMILE, and its AI-powered Keratoconus Probability (KCP) scoring system can detect subclinical keratoconus long before it would appear on a standard clinical examination. A unique bilateral differential topography algorithm compares both eyes to identify asymmetric ectasia patterns, and an integrated ICL surgery assistant automatically recommends the optimal lens diameter for implantable collamer lens procedures. The entire examination is 100% non-contact and painless.
Key benefits
- Scheimpflug camera captures up to 230,400 data points per scan in under 1 second
- AI-powered Keratoconus Probability (KCP) scoring for objective ectasia risk assessment
- Complete 3D topography: curvature, elevation, thickness, and aberration maps
- Bilateral differential topography to detect asymmetric subclinical keratoconus
- ICL surgery AI assistant — recommends optimal lens diameter automatically
- 100% non-contact and painless — no drops, no touching, no patient discomfort
What we use it for
- Pre-Operative LASIK & SMILE Screening — High-resolution Scheimpflug corneal tomography confirms corneal thickness, curvature, and elevation data to verify that a patient's corneal architecture is structurally safe for laser vision correction.
- Keratoconus Detection & Monitoring — AI-powered Keratoconus Probability (KCP) analysis and the unique bilateral differential topography algorithm detect keratoconus at subclinical stages — before any corneal distortion is visible on standard examination.
- ICL Surgery Planning — Scansys provides white-to-white diameter and anterior chamber depth measurements required for accurate ICL lens sizing, and its AI module recommends the optimal ICL diameter for each patient.
- Contact lens fitting — Accurately assess the corneal curvature and radius for precise contact lens fitting
- IOL Optomisation — Ideal for intra ocular lens optomisation in implanting premium IOL
