How it works
The Excimer Laser is the workhorse of modern refractive surgery — a 193 nm ultraviolet laser that permanently corrects short-sightedness, long-sightedness, and astigmatism by precisely reshaping the corneal surface. At Peshawar Eye Hospital, the excimer laser is used as the ablation step in Femto-LASIK, working in combination with the femtosecond laser to deliver a completely bladeless procedure. The excimer laser's cool ablation removes corneal tissue with extraordinary accuracy, guided by high-speed eye-tracking that compensates for any involuntary eye movement during treatment. Each treatment is completed in just 30–60 seconds per eye. Because no heat is generated, surrounding corneal tissue is fully protected throughout the procedure.
