SMILE Procedure

Depending on glasses and contact lenses every day the cleaning, the cost, the discomfort during sport, and the constant dry irritation from lens wear is a frustration many patients live with for years. Many have heard concerns about LASIK dry eye or the idea of a flap being cut in the eye, and hesitate to explore surgery as a result.

Using the ZEISS VisuMax 500 femtosecond laser, SMILE corrects short-sightedness and astigmatism entirely inside the cornea through a 2–4 mm keyhole opening no flap, no blade, no surface incision. The laser works in approximately 30 seconds, the cornea self-seals immediately, and most patients see clearly the next day.
