PRK

Not everyone can safely have LASIK or SMILE. Patients with thin corneas, irregular topography, or those in physically demanding roles military, martial arts, contact sports need a laser option without any flap that could be displaced by impact. Without a suitable alternative, these patients remain permanently dependent on glasses or lenses. PRK reshapes the corneal surface directly using the excimer laser with no flap of any kind. Because there is nothing to displace, it is the preferred laser option for high impact occupations and sport, and remains suitable for corneas too thin for LASIK or SMILE. Long-term visual results are clinically identical.
